Garrison Brothers Distillery
The first legal bourbon distillery in Texas β and where the 290TX story began.
Our Connection
This isn't just a stop on our tour β it's where our founder Stephanie Whitworth helped build the guest hospitality program back in 2010. Before the 290 wine trail was a thing, before Fredericksburg became a destination, she was out here on that caliche road in Hye, designing how visitors would experience Texas bourbon for the first time.
When your group arrives with us, the Garrison team doesn't see strangers β they see family. That connection runs deep, and it shows in every pour, every story, and every moment of your visit.
What to Expect
Garrison Brothers sits on a working ranch surrounded by rolling hills and live oaks. The still house is the heart of the operation β copper pot stills, the smell of charred oak barrels, and the unmistakable warmth of bourbon aging in Texas heat. Unlike Kentucky, where barrels age slowly in cool rickhouses, Texas heat accelerates the process, giving Garrison Brothers bourbon a depth and character that's uniquely Texan.
The Tasting Experience
Small Batch Bourbon
The foundation. Smooth, warm, unmistakably Texan.
Balmorhea
Their flagship. Longer aging, deeper complexity, a finish that stays with you.
Laguna Madre
Finished in port wine casks. Rich, layered, for the adventurous palate.
Insider Tips from Stephanie
- βAsk for the Balmorhea pour. It costs a few dollars more but the difference is extraordinary β this is the bourbon that wins awards.
- βVisit in the morning when the ranch is quiet and the light hits the still house just right. Our 11 AM timing gets you there at the perfect moment.
- βGrab a bottle of the Small Batch from the gift shop β they offer distillery-exclusive labels you can't find at liquor stores.
